Reader's Reviews and Comments
Joy Comes in the Morning by Queenie C
"I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was intriguing and hopeful; abundant in faith and love. Each of the characters had such an important role in this book. As it is a Christian book, it does incorporate some Scripture verses, but they are inspirational and fit well with the story.
I don't usually read historical novels, but Joy Comes in the Morning was not a dry, dull history lesson. I loved it. Book clubs will enjoy this one. Christian book clubs will delight in the hope it brings and others will too. I can't wait to read Joyce's next book."
Uplifting Civil War tale of love, drama, & hope!
"This is a remarkable tale of one woman's courageous journey through abuse and trauma by relying on her faith in God. Christian themes, such as those demonstrated by the parable of the Good Samaritan, are subtly interwoven into this believable Civil War era romance. The characters, dialogue, and plot work so smoothly that this reader felt Ms. Hope was telling a true story, rather than fiction. I'm very impressed that this is the author's first published work and highly recommend it! "
A Christian Civil War Romance with something New!
"This historical romance set in the time right after the Civil War shows the reality of the time. I love how the writter has included the trial of Henry Wirz a man charged with war crimes, which I have never read in any other Civil War historical romance. The book is romantic as well and has a biblical theme running through the romance, which was so well written. I would recommend this book if you love a historical Christian romance and you want more then romantic fluff."
Get ready for an all-nighter!
"I read this book as a favor for a friend who asked me to read it. I was prepared for a nice story, nothing special. I was prepared to return the book with a smile a pleasant response. However, when I opened the book one evening, I was not prepared to be up until 1 am! Each page begged to be turned as characters developed and plots thickened. I found myself engrossed in the characters thoughts and feelings and I could not bring myself to put it down. As I learned about the characters, I found myself learning important lessons about true love and true faith in God. If you are looking for an entertaining read that will pull you in, touch you and inspire you, look no further."
A refreshing, compelling page turner!
"I started and finished this book in one weekend. The characters, plot, and thoughtfulness of this piece are masterfully crafted. This book has everything an avid reader looks for in a new read...action, adventure, historical relevancy, mystery, and of course, romance. Looking forward to see what's next from this author!"
A Civil War Romance with a different Twist
"This historical romance set in the time right after the Civil War shows the reality of the time. I love how it talks about the trial of Henry Wirz a man charged with war crimes, which I have never read in any other Civil War historical romance. The book is romantic as well and has a biblical theme running through the romance, which was so well written. I would recommend this book if you love a historical Christian romance and you want more then romantic fluff."
Excellent reading!
"I found this book to be different than many historic romance fiction books because it combines actual Civil War history with the Biblical theme of the Good Samaritan, along with an infusion of modern day invention. The characters are very well developed, their love relationship being deeply spiritual and without silly "fluff." The plot is woven with ingenious little twists and turns, but is written in a way that reads smoothly, the author not trying to show off her word prowess by requiring me to have to search through a dictionary every ten minutes."
